Mimeograph

In 1876 Thomas Edison was given a patent for the mimeograph - which would relieve the world from the small-press-run publication. The mimeograph machine came before the modern printers that we use today and were used everywhere in offices, schools, and even the military.

Theodore Roosevelt 1858 – 1919

Theodore Roosevelt became the youngest president of the United States. He was appointed to position after President McKinley was assassinated. With his charisma he was able to inspire the American people and lead Congress to stronger reforms and foreign policies.

He took the view that the President as a “steward of the people” should take whatever action necessary for the public good unless expressly forbidden by law or the Constitution.” I did not usurp power,” he wrote, “but I did greatly broaden the use of executive power.”

Colonization Of Australia

The history of Australia that has been recorded began after the Dutch explorers first discovered the country during the 17th century. Europeans first spotted the country in 1606 by Willem Janszoon the Dutch navigator. They made landfall on the western coast of Cape York Peninsula.

World War II

World War II was a world-wide military war – which started off as two completely separate conflicts. The first conflict began in Asia in 1937 and was called the Second Sino-Japanese War. The other conflict began in Europe in 1939 and began when Germany invaded Poland.

Cleopatra 69 B.C. - 30 B.C.

Cleopatra was one of the most famous queens in ancient Egypt. She was known in that time as Cleopatra VII because she was the seventh woman in her family to have that name - but she is the only one that we remember. Her family ruled Egypt for over 100 years alone before she was born close to 69 B.C.

Robert E. Lee 1807 - 1870

Virginian Robert E. Lee was the idol of the South and one of the famous leaders during the Civil War. He actually had a hard time trying to adjust to the warfare of the time because it had changed so much – but this did not slow him down. He was able to keep the Union (northern) army out of Virginia for up to three years.

French And Indian War

During the early part of the eighteenth century the North American region (also known as the trans-Appalachian region) was untouched and undiscovered until Frenchman from Canada and Englishmen from the surrounding British colonies traveled through and discovered the woods and the great rivers. Yet, there was one group of people who lived there and inhabited those lands – the Native Americans.

Julius Caesar - 100 BC – 44 BC

Julius Caesar (full name Gaius Julius Caesar) was one of the most popular and most influential leaders in Rome. He was a great military leader who was able to transform the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire.
When Caesar was born the senators ruled the Roman Republic. They were a corrupt group that made their rulings based on their greed to have more power and their hope that one day they would become the praetor or consul. These two positions would give them the ability to command an army.
